Meiosis and 18 ways to make a baby

We went to the PBS site and read about all the 18 different ways to make a baby. The first is natural sex which is the most common. The second is artificial insemination of the mother with the fathers sperm. The third and fourth ways are also artificial insemination. The third is artificial insemination of the mother with the donors sperm. The fourth is artificial insemination with egg and sperm donors with surrogate mother. In Vitro Fertilization is the fifth where they use the egg and sperm of the parents. The sixth way is Intra-Cytoplasmic sperm injection. The seventh is IVF with frozen embryos. The eighth is IVF with Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis. The ninth is IVF with egg donor. The tenth is IVF with sperm donor. The eleventh way is IVF with egg and sperm donor. The twelveth is IVF with surrogate using parents eggs and sperm. The 13th way is IVF with surrogate and egg donor. The 14th is IVF is surrogate with sperm donor. The 15th is IVF with surrogate using her egg and sperm from babies father. The 16th way is IVF with surrogate using eggs and sperm donors. The 17th way is cytoplasmic transfer and the last way is nuclear transfer and cloning.
Artificial Insemination is introducing semen into the uterus or oviduct by other than natural means. Intra-cytaplasmic sperm donor is where doctors collect a single live sperm and they inject it into the cytoplasm of the mothers egg. Frozen embryos is when specialists freeze embryos from a woman's cycle for later use. Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis is where they screen embryos prior to implantation to check for genetic abnormalities. The embryos that do not have abnormalities are the only one's that are implanted. The surrogate is the mother who usually by artificial semintation or introduction of a fertilized egg into her uterus. The mother than carries the baby for a term for another mother. Cytoplasmic transfer is where cytoplasm from a donor egg is drawn into a pipette containing a single sperm from the male partner. After that the donated cytoplasm and the sperm are injected into the patients egg. Cloning is when they take body cells from an adult and putting them in an unfertilized egg that has had it's genetic material removed. The last one nuclear transfer is where they take an nucleus from an immature egg from the mother to be and places it in the enucleated egg donated by the young woman. That is what I learned from the site on 18 ways to make a baby.
